Hastings and Rother RAYNET Group was formed under the national RAYNET organisation managed by the Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB). Groups cover the whole of the United Kingdom, and are either independent of, or supported by, the RSGB.
The Hastings and Rother RAYNET Group are affiliated to the RSGB.
RAYNET is manned by highly skilled volunteers who, often using their own equipment, provide communications in times of emergency and disaster.
RAYNET members come from all occupations and are commonly called upon to support the ‘User Services’ to provide communications where required. The ‘User Services’ are: British Red Cross Society, St. John Ambulance Brigade, St. Andrew’s Ambulance Association, Women’s Royal Voluntary Services, Salvation Army, HM Coastguard, Chief Emergency Planning Officer (County, Regional, or National), Police, Fire, Ambulance, Health Authority, Government Department or Utility Services.
The Hastings and Rother RAYNET Group are currently working with the East Sussex County Emergency Planning Officer, local Parish & Town Councils within our Group area, and other 'User Services' in order to facilitate the communication between possible county rescue or respite centres. This work will bring RAYNET into close cooperation with many local people - with the overall aim of improving any given situation in times of natural emergency or an act of terrorism.
